Slukynsky and his Warroad team lost to Mahtomedi 6-5 in double overtime in the Minnesota Class A state championship game. Two years and 10 days later, Slukynsky earned a win at the X. Slukynsky and Western Michigan beat UND 4-2 in the second National Collegiate Hockey Conference semifinal game Friday night. Slukynsky ended with 23 saves in the win.

He’s never attended a game there. But he led Red Lake County’s offense, dropping 30 points in the No. 3 Rebels' Minnesota Class A state semifinal game against No. 2 Dawson-Boyd. Duden’s night wasn’t enough, though, as the Blackjacks pulled away late to beat Red Lake County 80-66 Friday afternoon.

  • Red Lake County boys basketball survives Goodhue's comeback attempt in 68-61 state quarterfinal win

    By Abby Sharpe Verified| Grand Forks Herald Verified MINNEAPOLIS — The Red Lake County boys basketball team recovered momentum just in time Thursday night at the Target Center. Red Lake County’s Connor Duden nailed a 3-pointer to put the Rebels up 60-56 over Goodhue with three minutes left in the Minnesota Class A state quarterfinals. Duden and Ben Gullingsrud then went a combined 5-for-6 from the free-throw line to seal the Rebels’ 68-61 win over Goodhue — Red Lake County’s first state quarterfinal win in the 18-year history of the co-op.
