Hi! I'm Adria Carpenter, a freelance multimedia journalist based in Minneapolis. I grew up on a cattle farm in Tifton, Georgia, the youngest of five. My first journalism job was in the 7th grade. I was my middle school's amateur meteorologist. I graduated from the University of Georgia with two BA degrees in English and journalism in 2019, focusing on photojournalism and feature writing. I completed my MA degree in English at UGA the following year, studying American and British literature post-1900. Previously, I worked for Little Village Magazine, Flagpole Magazine, the Morgan County Citizen, the Red & Black, Grady Newsource and the Stallion. I was also a member of the UGA NPPA chapter. My beat is typically the stories no one else wants to take. In my free time, I do a lot of work-adjacent hobbies: creative writing, reading and photography. I also love playing the guitar, piano and cooking.
