  • Top Surgery, Magnolia Trees, and the Trans Art of Letting Go

By Aisha Mirza| Autostraddle Verified I snuck into my landlord’s garden to write about my tits when the sun came out in Brooklyn after what felt like 700 years. I’m writing about my tits because tomorrow I’m having gender-affirming chest surgery that I’ve been waiting just about as long for, whether I knew it or not (I knew it). The surgery I’m getting has lots of names, none of them quite right, which is fitting.

  • March's Letter

By Gioncarlo Valentine, Aisha Mirza, Tiona Nekkia McClodden, Kameelah Janan Rasheed| Something Personal@ Thursday, March 30, 2023Hello Again,I’m writing to you from my rooftop in sunny Harlem. It’s chilly, I’m oscillating often between light jackets and thick coats, but today is a gorgeous day. The melodic sounds of a very active springtime in New York calm me. Children laugh and shout at the park directly across from my apartment. Feeling Myself by Beyonce and Nicki Minaj lilts in and out of focus from a distant car, no doubt double parked.

  • Queeries: is my marriage over?

By Aisha Mirza| gal-dem.com@ Dear Fagony,My partner and I have been together ten years and married for three, which has for the most part been amazing. We have spent our formative twenties together, and I moved to a different country to be with him. Problem is, things have been a bit dead for us in the bedroom for a while, which got really obvious during lockdown. It seemed like while everyone else was having pandemic babies, we fell into housemate mode.
