My name is Akilah Winters. I am an award-winning journalist currently working at 11Alive as a Producer-in-Residence in Atlanta, GA. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Journalism from Florida A&M University. I recently won an award for the 2022 Sunshine State award Best Serious Feature category where I placed third for my "Tally 19: the Enduring Trauma of Revolution" article. I was born and raised in Key West, FL. I see myself as an individual who likes to create art and make it a part of my unique interpretation of life. In my journalistic career, I have written many articles for 11Alive and student media while in school. Firefighters first received the call shortly after 6 a.m. when a neighbor called to report an RV on fire in the woods behind the 4100 block of Bent Willow Drive in Lilburn. The caller stated they could see the fire across the lake and heard an explosion, according to the fire department.
