The collision took place just before 11 p.m. at Highway 116 and Stony Point Road, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David deRutte. The deputy, heading east in a marked patrol car, entered the intersection against a red light and struck a northbound Honda Accord that had the right of way.

  • Tree removal worker hospitalized after live wire shock in Petaluma

    By Alana Minkler Verified| The Sacramento Bee Verified A tree removal worker was hospitalized Thursday morning after he was shocked by a high voltage line downed by a tree. Around 8:15 a.m., CHP officers from the Santa Rosa office were called to Pepper Road and Pepper Lane in Petaluma because a tree crew fell a tree that accidentally took down a phone line, according to the department in a news release. When CHP officers arrived, they learned a man had been shocked by a high voltage line that was also struck by the tree.
