Biography

I'm currently working of the BBC's Mental Health and Disability podcast Access All. I love producing stories that amplify the experiences of those who often feel unheard - especially in the context of mental health. Prior to this I worked on Witness History - making features about historical news events talking to the people involved from that time to get their perspective looking back. For two years I was seconded to the Ministry of Justice to be Head of Radio and Music in Prisons. I worked with a number of prisons to support them in their vision to create radio stations inside prisons. I also supported prisoners to learn radio production skills. I have also spent a significant amount of time working at the BBC World Service. I have field produced extensively around the world on key news events including the Nepal Earthquake, the Brussels Airport attacks, the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the Charlie Hebdo terror attacks in Paris. I have also gone on several trips to Africa while working on BBC's Newsday programme. I have field produced Alan Kasujja in Nigeria, Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya and Tanzania. I have reported for the BBC World Service and Radio 4 on Hurricane Sandy in New York and I also did lives for 5 live's Up All Night from San Francisco telling the stories from California for a UK audience. Before coming to the BBC I lived in the United States. I started off as a beat reporter in New York working for WBAI Radio. I then worked for WNYC's The Takeaway programme working on their News Desk writing copy.
