For the uninitiated, rewilding is the act of restoring the Earth’s natural ecosystems so that they become thriving, self-sustaining environments without the need for significant human intervention. Remarkably, the term was only coined in 1998 by American biologists Michael Soulé and Reed Noss. Today, 27 years on, its principles are, I believe, one of our main tools to avert climate catastrophe.
