ARD, or Arbeitsgemeinschaft der öffentlich-rechtlichen Rundfunkanstalten der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, is a consortium of Germany’s regional public-service broadcasters, established in 1950. It is the largest public broadcaster network in the world, operating with a €6.9 billion annual budget primarily funded through mandatory household licensing fees.
