In the province’s north sits Churchill, a subarctic port town on the west shore of Hudson Bay. The community, a tourism hub for polar bears and beluga whales, is also home to the only deep-water seaport in northern Canada that is connected by land to the rest of the country. “What we’re really building is trade-enabling infrastructure,” says Chris Avery, CEO of the Arctic Gateway Group.
