Biography

Alexis Keenan Weed spent began her journalism career with CNN, first as a live news reporter and producer for CNN's sister network HLN, following an initial career as a litigation attorney. Alexis later produced custom video content and two consecutive hours of live daily programming for CNN Newsroom. In that role, Alexis field produced, booked, researched and edited topically diverse video stories for CNN and CNN.com. During the 2016 U.S. election cycle, Alexis produced field coverage of primaries, debates, conventions, rallies, the general election and inauguration. She produced live broadcasts and packages from the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, and the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia, plus field produced large-scale events including Pope Francis' 2015 visit to the U.S., the memorial service for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and the Baltimore riots following the death of Freddie Gray. Alexis has a masters degree in journalism from Northwestern University, a juris doctorate from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, and a bachelor's degree in political science from Michigan State University. Alexis was admitted to practice law by the Illinois Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. During her legal career, she also served as committee co-chair for the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section.
