Biography

I am a journalist, critic and producer specialising in politics, cultural studies, sociology, philosophy and big ideas. I have worked for BBC Radio 4, the BBC World Service, Monocle 24, Penguin Press and others, and am now writing my first book (represented by RC&W Literary Agents). I have written criticism and features for national publications, including the Times Literary Supplement, Lit Hub and New Humanist. I also develop, produce and exec podcasts for and with academics, focussed on ideas communication and critical thinking - including 'Uncommon Sense' for The Sociological Review and 'The Stigma Conversations' with Imogen Tyler. Trained as a broadcast journalist, I started my career at BBC Radio 5 Live and worked for years as a producer for BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service, making ideas-focussed discussion programmes such as 'The Forum' (WS) and the flagship sociology show 'Thinking Allowed' (R4). I have also produced BBC documentaries with Whistledown and Somethin' Else, and made content for programmes and podcasts including 'Front Row', 'Woman's Hour', 'Last Word', 'The Cultural Frontline', 'Start the Week', and 'Outlook'. I have also produced 'Feedback', for Whistledown productions. My academic background is in Social and Political Sciences (King's College, University of Cambridge) and East European Studies (UCL). I also studied social policy at the University of Oxford, and qualified in Broadcast Journalism at the University of the Arts, London.
