Biography

Alisha Green is an award-winning editor and writer with more than a decade of experience. Based in Santa Cruz, California, her reporting on policy, technology, health and the environment has appeared in publications including Fortune, Medium, CityLab and SF Weekly. She was previously managing editor of Good Times, a weekly newspaper and daily news website covering the Santa Cruz region. During Alisha’s time there, the publication won a 2020 California Journalism Award for print general excellence. The same year, Alisha won a California Journalism Award for the feature story she wrote about how conservation photographers spark action to protect wildlife and natural habitats. Alisha earned a Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing and a bachelor's degree in journalism from Michigan State University, with a specialization in peace and justice studies. She is a member of The Authors Guild, the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA), and ACES: The Society for Editing. She volunteers with the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the EFA, contributing to the “Freelancer’s Corner” column in the group’s monthly newsletter. She frequently takes new professional courses to stay current on best editing and writing practices. Before going freelance, Alisha was a reporter on the staff of publications including the San Francisco Business Times, CQ Roll Call and the Associated Press. She co-produced an award-winning video series on Michigan elections, covered policy and politics in Michigan and in Washington, D.C., and reported on the tech industry in the San Francisco Bay Area.
