Adventure Cycling Association (ACA) is a nonprofit organization based in Missoula, Montana, dedicated to promoting bicycle travel and building a community of cycling enthusiasts. Founded in 1973, ACA emerged from the Bikecentennial ’76 tour, which celebrated America's bicentennial and attracted over 4,000 cyclists. Today, it serves as a key advocate for long-distance cycling, offering a network of over 52,000 miles of mapped routes and supporting 23,000 members. ACA focuses on route development, including the well-known TransAmerica Trail, and provides detailed maps and navigation resources. The organization advocates for improved cycling infrastructure and safer riding conditions through policy initiatives. It also engages the community by organizing tours, sharing inspirational stories, and offering educational resources such as planning tools and safety guidelines. ACA aims to make bicycle travel accessible and enjoyable for everyone, fostering a spirit of adventure and connection among cyclists of all skill levels.
