Amarsanaa Battulga (阿木) is a freelance film critic, programmer, and PhD researcher based in Nanjing and Ulaanbaatar. Alumnus of Berlinale Talent Press (2023); jury member at Hong Kong IFF (2025), Locarno (2024), and Golden Ger (2024); pre-selector for True/False (2023), Cambridge (2023), and Chinese Film Festival Hamburg (2024). He worked as the associate editor of ChinaNauts, an online magazine on contemporary China. His bylines include Cineuropa, photogénie, Talking Shorts, The China Project, The World of Chinese, and many more. When he is not watching, researching, or writing about films, he enjoys playing board games, practicing classical Mongolian, and thinking about going to the gym. He cannot ride a horse.
