Ami Nicole (legal name Amy Cooper) has been a writer and journalist since 2014. Starting with her own website ‘Detroit Ginger,’ she began covering music events and creatives around the city of Detroit. Trained by self-taught experience, and a Journalism Minor at Eastern Michigan University, Digital Journalism became one of her passions. She landed a placement on her school paper, The Eastern Echo, which was her first paid writing job. In 2015, her schooling and boots-on-the-ground teachings earned her a job at Beasley Media Group (formerly Greater Media), as a content creator and journalist for Music and Pop Culture beats. Her specialties and beats were Throwback Hip-Hop, Top 40, Adult Contemporary, Nerd / Fandom TV + Movies, as well as covering the Active and Classic Rock Beat when needed. In 2017, she earned one of her biggest bylines to date, covering Ann Arbor’s Hash Bash for High Times Magazine, and began to write about Cannabis content for her online magazine, now rebranded as ACRONYM ZINE. She also was a Special to The Oakland Press and Macomb Daily, filling in on Concert Coverage for esteemed writing legend Gary Graff. In 2018, she left Beasley Media Group to pursue ACRONYM’s creative umbrella full time. She also tapped into work for media start-up Detroitisit, where she became one of the head writers, as well as the photographer, social strategist, and team manager until the Pandemic of 2020.
