I also recognize that this is only a starting point and that allowing for complexity is what can prevent me from oversimplifying things and can encourage creative solutions rather than keeping me locked in an either/or bind. Complicated times like these have only made binary oppositional thinking more appealing and more entrenched.

• Cause of Alzheimer's might be coming from inside your mouth, scientists find

A paper submitted by University of Louisville microbiologist Jan Potempa, found that there is a link between gum disease and Alzheimer’s. The pathogen behind chronic gum disease (a condition known officially as periodontitis) was also found in the brains of deceased Alzheimer’s patients.
