The deductible he had to pay left him in a tough money spot, he recalls. While health care costs vary by type of injury and treatment length, Santiago Nazario says she has seen bills of $200,000 and higher. “Money becomes the barrier to mental health and physical health for our Latino community, and it's heartbreaking,” Santiago Nazario says.
