Biography

Andrea González-Ramírez is an award-winning Puerto Rican journalist and the founder of the Latinas in Journalism Mentorship Program. She's currently a Senior Writer at New York Magazine's The Cut. Her work has also appeared in Cosmopolitan, The Lily, Insider, GEN by Medium, and Refinery29, among others. She was a 2021-2022 Knight-Wallace Reporting Fellow at the University of Michigan, one of the recipients of the 2021 ASME NEXT Awards for Journalists Under 30, and a 2019-2020 Ida B. Wells fellow at Type Investigations. Andrea is also one of the authors of “AOC: The Fearless Rise and Powerful Resonance of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez” from St. Martin's Press and "Take Up Space: The Unprecedented AOC" from Avid Reader Press. She has been featured as an expert commentator on CBSN, MSNBC, The Mother Jones Podcast, WNYC’s The Takeaway, BBC, and other outlets. She is represented by David R. Patterson of Stuart Krichevsky Literary Agency. In 2016, Andrea launched Los Que Se Fueron, a collection of interviews exploring what it means to be a young Puerto Rican living stateside. She holds a Master of Journalism with a concentration on International Reporting from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus with a degree in Journalism and Sociology.
