Biography

Shoe-leather-burning journalist who oversees a five-county region in Northern Indiana. My focus is on watchdog reporting and finding stories that don't come in the form of press releases. Born and raised a Hoosier, I love local newspapers that keep the public informed on local government affairs while highlighting the people and traditions of rural America. I am a professional photographer who studied at Indiana University's Ernie Pyle School of Journalism before pursuing a degree in Environmental Science. I later switched paths and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism with a concentration in news writing from the newly-formed IU Media School. Before the pandemic hit, I led a team of 17 reporters to increase online circulation at the Marion Chronicle-Tribune, Huntington Herald-Press, Wabash Plain Dealer, Peru Tribune and Frankfort Times. Though our staff is smaller now and our smaller properties are now twice-weekly publications, my team continues to bring rural Indiana communities the news they need to stay informed while highlighting the accomplishments of our neighbors. Curiosity, endless energy and attention to detail define my work. Although I've told countless stories for daily papers in northern Indiana for four years now, there are many more to be told. I hope you join me on the long journey ahead.
