Keppler, 28, grew up in Alaska and Maryland and has spent the past seven-plus years working at various youth hockey levels in Maryland. His dad was in the Air Force and spent time in both states growing up. But he always had a dream of coaching high school hockey in "the state of hockey." Keppler achieved his dream when he was announced as River Lakes' new head coach on Tuesday, April 15.

McCarney, who helped start the program in the fall of 2002 when she was 19 years old, was recognized as the Class 3A coach of the year by the Minnesota Association of Dance Teams on Saturday, April 12, in New Prague.
