By Andy Tallman| Billings Gazette Verified A former Marine from Lolo was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in prison followed by lifetime probation on charges of possessing and distributing child sexual exploitation material, or CSEM. Eric Salazar, 30, pleaded guilty in October 2024 to the charges. Court documents state that, since 2015, Salazar had entered into sexual conversations with over 60 girls under the age of 18 over the social media platform Snapchat.
By Andy Tallman| Missoulian Verified Sentinel High School locked down Tuesday morning just before 9 a.m. after a student reported seeing a gun. Sentinel’s Student Resource Officer, whom the gun was reported to, requested help from the Missoula Police Department, who arrived on the scene. The police and SROs detained two male students and recovered a gun from a car in the parking lot, according to Detective Captain Eddie McLean.

Nathan Nicholas Johnson St. Goddard, 44, was arraigned this week on accusations that he sexually assaulted a woman on June 22, 2024, on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. According to charging documents, St. Goddard stated he only picked up the woman and dropped her off at the lodge.

The Investigative Reporting Workshop, based at the School of Communication at American University, was founded in 2008 by longtime investigative journalist Chuck Lewis. Our own staff and freelancers contribute to our site. In addition, IRW pairs graduate students as researchers and reporters with professional staff at The Washington Post and PBS FRONTLINE. Other media outlets have co-reported and co-published Workshop stories, including inewsource and KPBS in San Diego; WAMU-FM in Washington, D.C.; Reveal from the Center for Investigative Reporting; The New Yorker; The New York Times; and the Columbia Journalism Review. Two of our most recent 2020 projects, investigations into water quality — and racial, economic and political factors contributing to lack of clean water — have been co-reported by The Weather Channel and co-published by The Fresno Bee and the Tampa Bay Times. The Workshop has published more than 200 stories, won a dozen national awards and trained more than 160 students.
