    By Ann Davidson| Trinidad Express Verified I applaud MP Keith Scotland for his suggestion to utilise coalpots, except that in modern T&T mostly the elite still have coalpots, others have barbecue grills (but that could work too). It’s not so much about the coalpot but about people learning to adjust to their circumstance. Long ago, when “gas done!” I saw my deceased mother, RIP, turn over her iron, prop it against the wall, rest a saucepan on it and boil water to send her children off to school with a hot cup of tea.

  • From inspiration to pro-action: K.A. Students set to make school a straw-free zone

    By Ann Davidson| The Record Verified When underwater diver and videographer, Will Allan, who also happens to be an alumnus of Knowlton Academy, came to visit the K.A. students at the second annual career day, they were so inspired by his presentation of “Revolution” that the outcome was a pro-active movement by the Secondary One students to make their school a plastic straw-free zone. As well, they aim to encourage other schools and eateries to follow suit.
