(WMC) - The bill aimed at giving the State of Tennessee control over Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS) is advancing in the Senate. The Senate Finance Committee approved the bill Wednesday with a 9-2 vote. The bill included an amendment to create a state advisory board, rather than the State of Tennessee taking over the district. Another amendment clarifies that the advisory board would be paid the same salary as the school board.
