Biography

Annelise Pierce is the founder, editor and a community reporter for emerging local online news service, Shasta Scout. Annelise began writing new stories for the online news source, A News Cafe. She comes to journalism through her work in community development, including two years of service on the Shasta County Grand Jury which were formative to her decision last year to begin a local news media organization focused on government accountability and in-depth, investigative reporting that would adequately address the needs of our diverse and complex community. As a relative newcomer to the media world, Annelise is well positioned to confront long-standing issues in the industry. Through innovative processes and practices that have drawn both regional and national attention, Annelise is working to develop deep audience engagement and rebuild community trust in local news. Shasta Scout is independent and nonprofit. You can find all our news for free at www.shastascout.org or on IG, Fb or Twitter under Shasta Scout.
