Biography

Hey, I'm Anthony. I'm always learning and am passionate about journalism, education, history, economics, and leadership. I'm excited about the future of journalism, democracy and media. I'm particularly interested in how young people use the media to engage with politics. Amongst other things, I've written pieces for the Sydney Morning Herald and led the Facebook Live broadcast of "Future Deciders," 2016 Australian election night coverage for young people, by young people (check it out on the 'Projects' section of the page). During the 2016 Federal Election, I also moderated the Crinkling News Kids’ Election Debate, a "Q&A" style debate with students asking hard questions of Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce, Labor MP Amanda Rishworth and Greens Senator Larissa Waters (when they were still considered Australian citizens!). Check it out in Publications below. I attended the historic Gallipoli Centenary commemorations in 2015 as one of 100 students selected by the NSW Government to travel to Turkey, with opportunities to learn the history of, and deeply reflect on, the story of Anzac and its place in our society. In 2017, I completed the HSC at St Andrew's Cathedral School, Sydney. I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunities I've had and relationships I've formed at school, especially in my position as School Captain, and through my involvement in extra-curricular activities including the Christian Cru group, Debating, Model United Nations, Fencing and Peer Support. This year, I'm beginning a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (International and Global Studies) at Sydney University.
