The Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH) is a Mexican federal institution established in 1939, dedicated to preserving and promoting the country's cultural heritage. It operates under the Secretariat of Culture and is headquartered in the Palace of the Marqués del Apartado. INAH manages over 110,000 historical monuments and 29,000 pre-Columbian archaeological zones, with many sites open to the public. INAH conducts research in archaeology, anthropology, and history, and it operates 31 Regional Centers to educate the public. The institution administers more than 100 museums, including the Museo Nacional de Antropología, which features extensive exhibition halls and cultural artifacts. INAH also produces academic publications and implements conservation programs for historical artifacts and buildings. It collaborates with other cultural institutions to protect and classify Mexico's cultural assets, ensuring the preservation of its rich heritage across all 31 states.
