Aretha Frison is the News Producer/Online Content Producer at News Channel 5 and CBS 2. She is responsible for bringing energy and excitement to our online and television audiences by posting fresh web content and producing evening newscasts. Before joining KALB, Aretha was the assignment editor at WGNO-TV ABC 26/WNOL-TV NOLA 38 in New Orleans. She provided reporters, producers and other newsroom staff with news research, information and all-around support for the evening newscasts. Aretha also wrote breaking news stories for the web and posted news content through the station's social media. She has also worked as the neighborhoods liaison coordinator at Neighborhoods Partnership Network (NPN) in New Orleans. Her duties included serving as editor for The Trumpet community magazine, facilitating capacity building classes, promoting neighborhood engagement and managing all its social media programs. A native of Detroit, Michigan, Aretha graduated with a bachelor's of science degree in journalism from the School of Journalism, Media and Graphic Arts at Florida A&M University. She also minored in religious studies, earning her a title of a New Testament Scholar. Aretha has worked as a fellow at Indiana University-Bloomington, Tulane University and with The Freedom Forum in Washington, D.C. She has worked for numerous publications and interviewed various national and international dignitaries, earning her several media and education awards over the years. Currently, she is an active member of the National Association of Black Journalists, the Press Club of New Orleans and the American Cancer Society.
