Biography
Hello there! I'm a tax policy reporter based in the US with more than 8 years of experience - covering business, breaking news, local and national politics and state and federal courts. I'm the daughter or a bookseller turned English professor and a former teacher turned librarian. I was born and raised right outside of Washington D.C. before attending Morgan State University in Baltimore. I now reside in D.C., where I've lived for half a decade. Living in the city made me a local on Capitol Hill, a place that has less and less of them. Growing up, my father would always tell people I'd be a writer and I'd grimace and correct him, telling people I'd be a dancer or a fashion designer or something that sounded cooler to me. More than five years into my career as a journalist, I can say that every once in a while father actually knows best because I absolutely love what I do. I started my career as an energy analyst at Morning Consult in 2015, which brought me to the Capitol. After a year, I moved to Tax Notes as a congressional tax reporter. In that position, I got to cover the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, eventually coining the term the "grain glitch" for a provision in the law that Congress eventually went on to correct. After three years, I moved into my current position as a tax correspondent at Law360 covering state and local tax policy. My work has appeared in several local and niche news outlets, including the Baltimore City Paper and the Baltimore Business Journal. When I'm not working I enjoy creating recipes in my kitchen, trying new restaurants, traveling and watching romantic comedies from the 90s.
Covers state and local tax policy, state legislatures, federal tax policy, the U.S. Congress, local government entities, and federal & state appellate courts.
Anything uninspired!
