Biography
I'm a journalist and creative nonfiction writer based in Louisville, Kentucky. My freelance work has been featured in The Guardian US, Slate, Salon, Paste Magazine, Munchies, mental_floss, STORY Magazine, STIR Journal, The Riveter, Mapquest Discover and Thrillist Louisville, with pieces upcoming at Serious Eats. In addition to freelancing, I am a current contributing arts and humanities writer at WFPL News, Louisville's NPR station, a contributing writer at Louisville Magazine and a former staff writer at Louisville.com. My interests as a writer are varied, but always tend to lean towards finding the quirky in the everyday; some recent article topics include polygamists whose relationships were inspired by reality television, the increasing ownership of "tiny houses" in Louisville, a cartoonist society's weekly Drink 'n' Draw, a profile on a member of the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, and whether diners are historic landmarks worthy of preservation. However, recurring themes in my work include culture, food and arts.
