Biography

Ayomide Tayo is an entertainment journalist with 10 years experience in music journalism. He started off as a writer in Hip Hop World Magazine, arguably the most important publication on music and youth culture in Nigeria. It should also be mentioned that he was one of the first set of writers that worked on the debut edition of the now rested THE NET Newspaper. After working with Hip Hop World Magazine, he launched his own blog Pop Off Central which quickly established itself as one of the most authoritative music outlets in the country for Nigerian music. During this period he became one of the foremost entertainment journalists at the forefront of the culture, and raised the bar for critiquing and reviewing Nigerian music albums. In 2013, he was part of the team that helped launch Hip TV, one of the top Nigerian music channels. Ayomide Tayo has also been a part of the organizing committee for Nigeria’s biggest and mong running music award - The Headies. He was part of the team in 2009, 2010 and 2013. In 2015, he joined Pulse Nigeria and made it become one of the top news websites in the country through regular interviews, insightful articles and commentary. He has also curated Nigerian music history as a co-host of the country’s most famous and impactful podcast ever, ‘Loose Talk’(2016-2019). Ayomide Tayo has worked with brands such as Project Fame, BHM, SoundCity, Mode Men Magazine, The Native Magazine, Monster Energy Drink and others. He presently runs a newsletter, Naija Times which focuses on Nigerian Pop culture.
