They will soon receive 53 sets of new bunker gear. That includes coats, pants, boots, gloves, and helmets. At $5,500 a set, the city is spending almost $300,000. The new bunker gear will help the city meet the National Fire Protection Association Code. They have ordered some extra sets, so no one will go without them when some of the other sets are being cleaned.

They are issuing decals for senior citizens to place in their homes, identifying them as seniors. Officers will perform either calls or daily welfare checks for anyone with the decal. Cottondale’s population is around 900 people. A large majority of them are senior citizens. Many of them are home alone for long periods of time.
