De naoorlogse groei naar autonomie bleek zondagavond geen vermelding waard in de slotaflevering van Het verhaal van Vlaanderen. Tegelijkertijd liep de Vlaamse regering zich compleet vast in het stikstofdossier. De illusie dat zelfbestuur automatisch tot beter en efficiënter bestuur leidt, werd pijnlijk doorgeprikt.
