It remains in the department, most often seen by the public in parades like those held during Wellsburg Daze celebrations, and as often as is possible, the county fair parade. The truck holds great historical value to the community and beyond. Prior to its purchase, neighboring Grundy Center had the only motorized fire truck – though it was a steam powered.

Most recently, the focus has been on increasing those awards through both new and revitalized events. Funds for each class are raised separately, and classes go through a rotation of fundraisers over a four-year period.
