By Ben Rigby Verified| The Global Legal Post Verified Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has promoted 19 lawyers to the partnership as it gears up for its merger with US firm Kramer Levin to go live in June. The total is significantly reduced from 2024’s 27-strong partner promotion round and is in keeping with other firms also having announced reduced partner classes this year, including Eversheds Sutherland and Taylor Wessing. HSF promoted 32 partners in 2023 and 34 – its largest partner class on record – in 2022.
By Ben Rigby Verified| The Global Legal Post Verified Blackstone Chambers junior Tim Parker has been nominated for appointment as a Senior Counsel at the Bar of Hong Kong. Parker, who is also a tenant at Temple Chambers in Hong Kong, is one of three barristers nominated today by Chief Justice Andrew Cheung of the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal (CFA). The other nominees are Catrina Lam of Des Voeux Chambers, who was called to the bar in 1999, and criminal barrister Priscilia Lam of Plowman Chambers, who was called in 2000.
By Ben Rigby Verified| The Global Legal Post Verified Taylor Wessing has elevated 10 lawyers to partner in its latest promotions round, its lowest cohort for five years. The 2025 class intake is almost 50% lower than last year, when 18 made the grade. It is also below the 14 that were promoted in 2023 and 2022, and the 12 that were made up in 2021. The last time it was lower was in 2020 when five made the cut, the same year the firm overhauled its UK partnership structure to add a junior tier of fixed-share equity partners.
