The Gunners salvaged a draw against Manchester City on the opening day, followed by an uninspiring win away at Leicester. Things only got worse from there, culminating in the resignation of Jonas Eidevall. A goalless draw against Everton, a humiliating 5–2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, and a 2–1 loss at home to Chelsea in the WSL painted a bleak picture.
