By Bill Cowen Verified| CINL (Ashcroft, BC) Verified Kamloops historic Red Bridge has been destroyed by fire. The blaze breaking out at around 3:00 am this morning. It appears to have started on the north side of the bridge and quickly spread across the South Thompson River. As of 4:25 this morning the southern end of the bridge was still fully engulfed, no word if the fire has spread to nearby buildings. This comes just two days after the bridge was shut down for 24 hours because of a blaze on Tuesday. More to come…
By Bill Cowen Verified| CINL (Ashcroft, BC) Verified A new advocacy campaign has been launched by residents of the fire ravaged Venables Valley, north of Spences Bridge, who have been hammered by the Shetland Creek wildfire. An information session those affected was held by the Thompson Nicola Regional District on Tuesday evening. Indications are most residents appear to be on the hook for clean up, and most likely rebuilding, as none of them are insured due to a lack of fire protection in the area.
