    By Bill Fuller, Ashley Latcha| KPXJ 21 (Shreveport, LA) Verified SHREVEPORT, La. - Tom Arceneaux, a Republican, has defeated state Sen. Greg Tarver, a Democrat, to become the next mayor of Shreveport in a runoff election held Saturday. Arceneaux received 56% of the vote to Tarver's 44%. Arceneaux, who served as a city councilman from 1982-1990, was also a former assistant Shreveport city attorney and has been active in civic causes. Mayor Adrian Perkins along with his two Democratic mayoral predecessors endorsed Arceneaux for the mayoral runoff.

  • Shreveport shootings fueled by gangs, drugs, guns, social media, source says

    By Bill Fuller| KPXJ 21 (Shreveport, LA) Verified Much of the rash of shootings in Shreveport over the past week is believed to be retaliation between rival gangs whose actions are fueled by drugs, guns and antagonistic social media, authorities with knowledge of the situation said Tuesday. The homicides, attempted murders and shootouts have left six men dead and eight wounded. In one shootout, no one was injured but shots were fired into neighboring houses.
