  • Martinsville council considers former BB&T building for offices

City Hall is not only in a bad state of repair, but there is not enough room in the building to accommodate the city's operations. Martinsville Circuit Judge Carter Greer has issued an order for council members to solve the problem and on Monday night efforts began publicly to do just that.

  • Unemployment rates up in region

    By Bill Wyatt Verified| Martinsville Bulletin Verified Unemployment rates are up in the city of Martinsville and Henry, Patrick, and Franklin counties while Danville and Pittsylvania County have managed to hold steady over the past 30 days. The unemployment rates for February from the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) increased overall for the region from what they were a year ago. The VEC announced Thursday the unemployment insurance weekly initial claims in the commonwealth increased more than 44% for the week ending April 5.
