  • Southport police station to return to old city hall

    By Bob Liepa Verified| State Port Pilot Verified The Southport Police Department, which was the last occupant of the old city hall/historic courthouse that has been vacant for nine years, will return to the E. Moore Street building. With a 4-2 vote during the April 10 meeting at the Southport Community Building, the Southport Board of Aldermen designated old city hall for dual use by the police with the second-floor former courtroom to serve as chambers for the city’s boards. Aldermen Robert Carroll and Karen Mosteller voted against the motion.
