Brad Franklin has had an extensive career spanning serveral mediums including music, TV, and radio. He has been described as a Hip Hop artist, entrepreneur, digital creator, motivational speaker, writer and activist. Formerly one-half of the critically acclaimed Mississippi hip-hop duo, Crooked Lettaz, with David Banner. He is the President of Ourglass Media Group, a full service branding, entertainment consulting, and artist management company. He is also the Founder/Executive Director of Jackson Indie Music Week, a 7-day music festival in Jackson, MS that has been dubbed the fastest-growing music festival in the southeast. He is also one of the founders of both the Jackson Black Business Expo and Juneteenth on Farish. Franklin hosts Third Coast Radio, a statewide indie music radio show on MPB, The #GoodThingsJXN Show, a community/current affairs show on WRBJ 97.7FM, and he co-hosts The According To Kaz & Queen Podcast with his wife, Queen. Currently, Franklin serves as the Branding and Marketing Director for the Public Health Informatics & Technology (PHIT) program at Jackson State University

We can be “prejudiced.” We can be “biased.” We can indeed discriminate against someone. But we do not have the historic, political or financial infrastructure to be systemically, structurally or institutionally “racist.” Especially if we’re talking about a place like Mississippi.

Jackson State University was amongst that group. On Thurs., Mar. 17, 2022, JSU President Thomas Hudson testified at a public hearing in Washington, DC called by Congressman Bennie Thompson and the House Homeland Security Committee to discuss safety at historically Black institutions. Hudson said the recent attacks make a mockery of how far we’ve come as a nation.
