    By Bradley Benson Verified| KRQE-TV (Albuquerque, NM) Verified ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – New Mexico United was one minute away from advancing to the next round of the US Open Cup. 30 minutes and a penalty shootout later, the club was eliminated from the tournament. In its match against El Paso Locomotive FC, United had a 2-1 lead in stoppage time. With the final whistle moments away, El Paso scored the equalizer and sent the match to extra time. El Paso then went on to win in PKs, 4-1. The loss does not impact New Mexico’s standings inside the USL.

It took until the 93rd minute for either team to find the back of the net, and it came from someone wearing black and yellow for the first time in his carrer. Thomas Amang, who joined United in early March, checked into the match in the 84th minute and made his debut with the club. With the game moments away from the final whistle, United, and Amang, were on the attack.
