This has been a highly anticipated legacy Star Trek project ever since it was teased back in 2019. Work on the new edition reunited the original 2001 DVD DE production team of producer David C. Fein, restoration supervisor Mike Matessino, and visual effects supervisor Daren R. Dochterman.
