Biography

A Nashville native, Brian Mansfield is a nationally recognized music journalist and historian. He is currently managing editor of Country Insider, a trade newsletter for the country radio industry. In addition, he runs a Facebook page called the Nashville Musical History Tour, which tells the city's music stories through the locations where they took place. He also writes and produces the Grand Ole Opry’s Opry Country Classics, a live-performance radio broadcast staged at the Ryman Auditorium since 2009. Mansfield spent 18 years as USA Today’s Nashville correspondent and has written for several other publications including Variety, The Tennessean, and the Nashville Scene. He also has edited and authored multiple books, including Rutledge Hill Press’ Ring of Fire: A Tribute to Johnny Cash and Remembering Patsy. He is a former member of the Country Music Association’s board of directors and currently serves on the boards of Historic Nashville, Inc., and The NECAT Network, which operates three public-access channels in the Nashville area.
