Education & training in the field of photography: . Completed two years of recreational photography classes at TAFE, & both stages of Nikon Travelling School of Photography. . Completed Diploma of Freelance Travel Writing and Photography, Australian College of Journalism. • 2008 – awarded AFIAP (Artiste Federation Internationale De L'Art Photographique) - in recognition of photographic skill. • 2010 – awarded FAPS (Fellow of the Australian Photographic Society) - in recognition of photographic skill. • 2017 – completed CAPSB (Conceptual Art Portfolio Award Bronze, Australian Photographic Society) – in recognition of demonstrated ability to develop a portfolio of conceptual photographic art. Selected experience in the field of photography: • Participated in more than 90 group exhibitions, commencing with the Personal Views element of the Australian Bicentennial Exhibition that toured Australia in 1988. • 1986-88 - Head (Assistant Secretary) of ACT Arts & Recreation, including oversight of Nolan Gallery at Lanyon. • 1987 - organised the national collection of amateurs' photographs for use in the Personal Views element of the 1988 Australian Bicentennial Exhibition. • 1988 - co-ordinated a project to document how Canberrans celebrated the Bicentennial year. About a dozen photographers, including Brian, covered almost every Bicentennial event that occurred in Canberra and took about 6,000 images. • Illustrated articles and portfolios published in various books (including being one of 100 people each exhibiting one photograph in a Centenary of Canberra exhibition and published photo book in 2013), magazines and newspapers. Currently writes the APS Focus page on a quarterly basis for the commercial magazine, Australian Photography. • Regularly reviews photography exhibitions and books for The Canberra Times and the Canberra Critics Circle, and publishes them (as well as other articles) on personal blog.
