The CSP said there has been a 25% reduction in vehicle theft in 2024. That is 8,401 fewer thefts compared to reported vehicle thefts in 2023. In 2023, vehicle theft decreased by 21% compared to 2022. CSP said Colorado experienced 24,575 reported stolen vehicles in 2024, averaging a per capita rate of 415 stolen vehicles per 100,000 residents, compared to 32,976 reported stolen vehicles in 2023.

The Colorado community's Open Space and Mountain Parks said this project is needed to get the area up to current safety standards. Hundreds of people use the area every day to bike, walk, and ride horses. The addition of the pedestrian bridge will separate bikers and walkers from the drivers in the area.
