According to TDOT, all work crews and contractors will stop all road construction that requires lane closures between 6 p.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Monday. “This will provide maximum roadway capacity to motorists expected to travel across the state this upcoming holiday weekend,” TDOT said in a press release.

Mayor Lisa Chapman-Fowler said the new budget will maintain the city's current tax rate of $0.3623 per $100, which has been the same for almost a dozen years. She said although the budget includes a deficit, the town's general fund can cover the difference. "We have a healthy general fund," she said.
