Biography
I am a freelance writer based in Houston, TX. I cover art, culture, social justice and other stories affecting the Third Coast and beyond. I’ve worked in journalism for more than a decade both as a reporter and editor, and became a full-time freelancer in 2013. My writing has appeared in Rolling Stone, Bustle, Curbed, CRAFTzine, Modern Luxury Magazine, Localeur and elsewhere. I am a regular contributor to Houstonia Magazine. Before going freelance I was the web editor for The Houston Press, a Voice Media-owned alt-weekly. Before that, I worked at print dailies. I grew up in Oklahoma, where I studied journalism, and moved to Houston in my early 20s. As the saying goes, I got to Texas as fast as I could. I’ve also lived in South Korea and Amsterdam. My pronouns are she/her.

As discourse swirled online about the mayor's statements, numerous Houstonians also pointed out that the city's Krogers each have a unique vibe, along with a nickname.
