Biography

After graduating from KU's William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications in May of 2014, Caitlin Doornbos joined the Lawrence Journal-World as a full time reporter covering the crime and courts beat. In her time in this position, Caitlin has covered a plethora of public safety happenings in the area – from homicides to fires – following the story from the scene to the courtroom. Though she started as a full time reporter covering the public safety beat in June 2014, Caitlin has been with the newspaper since June of 2013, when she started as a reporting intern during her senior year at the University of Kansas. Prior to joining the Lawrence Journal-World, Caitlin interned with the Topeka Capital-Journal's Statehouse Bureau, served as News Director for KJHK 90.7 in Lawrence Kan. and worked as a student events coordinator for the Dole Institute of Politics.
