The protest began about midday in Hopkins Park, 1403 Sycamore. By 11:40 a.m. more than 100 people were gathered. By noon, the crowd size grew to about 200, and again to an estimated 500 by 12:40 p.m.One protester was wildlife biologist Amielle DeWan, of Sycamore.
