Biography

I am a multimedia journalist with more than seventeen years’ experience in national and international media, both on staff and as a freelance. My primary areas of interest are urban politics, housing and economics but I also cover luxury real estate, culture, education, lifestyle, travel, food and farming. Over the course of my career, I have covered everything from major shifts in British, European and international housing to beachside Roman ruins in Italy and chocolate boutiques in Paris. My pieces have appeared on a wide range of British and American publications, including Forbes.com, Country Life, Woman & Home, Woman's Weekly, Ideal Home, Italy Magazine, Decanter and the Washington Post. In previous staff roles, I was editor of Country Life International, a thrice-a-year international property and travel magazine sold as a supplement to Country Life; editor at large of Italy Magazine, an online magazine covering Italian lifestyle, culture, food and travel; content director for Countrylife.co.uk and Horseandhound.co.uk; editor of the now-defunct Hotelworld.com, a travel website by Associated Newspapers; and associate editor and writer for the Conde Nast Traveller online and Vogue online. I went freelance in April 2005 and really relish the variety of styles and range of topics I can cover as an independent writer. If you are interested in global cities and real estate, follow me on Twitter and LinkedIn. If you'd like to get in touch, I can be reached by email, CarlaPassino [at] gmail.com.
